Through Pustertal to Lienz, along the Felbertauernstraße (B108) to Huben, bear left through Defereggental. The road is barely the width of two-lanes on narrow sections. Pass St. Jakob im Defereggental, and at the junction head on the mountain road via Staller Saddle. Via several serpentines you reach the high plateau of the Staller Alm and Obersee, as well as the border crossing area between East and South Tyrol. The descent from the summit down to Lake Antholzer is only permissible between one and fifteen minutes after the hour. The border crossing area is open from mid-May until mid-October from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., depending on the snow conditions. The single track, little tarmacked mountain road which avoids narrow sections, winds its way down to Untersee, with an altitude difference of 400 m and with eight hairpin bends over just 5 km. Continue out of the valley to Niederrasen where you turn into Pustertal’s Staatsstraße and procced along via the towns of Welsberg, Niederdorf, Toblach and Innichen back to Sillian.
