Starting from Guggenberg in Matrei you proceed through the shady mountain forest to Zunig Alm. This is situated above the forest boundary, providing a superb view to the Tauern massif.
On the first section of the Lasörling altitude trail, you head into the valley and soon come to the Arnitz Alm snack station. Continue via the ridge and the valley cuts to the Wetterkreuz Hütte on the First. This support point is accessible from Virgen via the lodge taxi. On the second section of the Lasörling altitude trail you reach Zupalsee Hütte via the Heflerhöhe which is covered with dwarf shrubs. Continue via the Lasörling ridge which has a superb panorama view across the dark green valleys. By way of a contrast there are the light summits and snowy surfaces of the Venediger massif. The next destination is Lasörling Hütte which you get to via Merschenalm at the foot of the Steinkaastal and Gumpachlacke. Lasörling Hütte is the starting point for the ascent to the Lasörling (3098 m) and several Alpine crossings.
The third section of the Lasörling altitude trail proceeds out of the valley to the Raineralm (Stadleralm), continuing via steep slopes to the Berger Alm snack station and across the mountain ridges of the Berger Kogel to Bergersee and Bergersee Hütte. Access via Lasnitzental to the Lasnitzen Alm snack station proceeds via the Muhs panorama trail high above Prägraten. From here proceed via the Micheltalscharte, the Rote Lenke to Bödensee and Reichenberger Hütte. The final section across the lush green hills to the Daberlenke and through Dabertal to Clara Hütte. At the end of this superb long-distance hiking trail you get to enjoy the beauty and wildness of the Umbal Falls, with the Pebell- and Islitzer Alm at the end.
With the exception of a few climbs, which link up with the altitude trail, hikes can be done in the Alpine landscape area in the shaded side of Virgental, heading in a variety of directions. There are several ways to get to each inn, from the valley too. Inspite of considerable differences in altitude the Lasörling altitude trail is also suitable for families. However, it is advisable to adapt the tour so it is suitable for children. For hikers with experience of the mountains and accompanied by mountain guides, there are plenty of fantastic summit tours along the routes. From easy hikes to difficult climbs – those of you who have an eye for nature and who take the time will take home lots of lovely impressions and experiences home with them.
Note: In summer of 2020 there is no accomodation possibility at the Zunigalm and Wetterkreuzhütte!
